Acknowledgements
The METRICUS program was conceived, written and produced by
Jerry L. Hammock.
Dave Ever's WINDOW TOOLS were used to develop the majority of
the screen displays in the METRICUS program. I wish to thank
Dave for providing these "labor saving routines". They really
helped cut down on time spent writing code. If you haven't
had a chance to try out Dave's WINDOW TOOLS, please do. They
are really great.
Hardware/Software Compatibility
The METRICUS program was developed on a Leading Edge Model D
(a PC clone). The program was also tested on an ITT XTRA/286
system ( a PC/AT clone). I will not give any guarantees, but
the program should run on most IBM compatible PC/XT/AT systems.
The program will run under MSDOS 3.0 or higher. It should run
under MSDOS 2.0 and above, but again, I haven't tested the
program on versions of DOS below 3.0.
COLOR/MONO CAPABILITIES
You can use either a color or monochrome monitor with this
program. The program is an All Text program, no graphics
were used.
METRICUS Program Description
This program is a very simple measurement conversions utility.
I wanted a neat program I could use whenever I needed to convert
U.S. measurements to Metric values. I got tired of trying to
locate the formulas, then having to go through the labor of
using the formulas.
The conversion choices provided by this program, were the ones
that I found myself (and my wife) using most often. I haven't
included every possible U.S. to Metric conversion possible, but
there are quite a few provided.
The METRICUS program is easy to use. The opening screen provides
all the instructions necessary to run the program. When you get
past the opening screen you will see a horizontal menu across the
top of the screen. The first choice on this menu will already be
highlighted and a pull down type menu will be displayed under it.
You select Main conversions using the Left or Right Arrow Keys.
As each Main selection is highlighted, a pull down menu will
appear listing specific conversions to pick from. Use the Up or
Down Arrow Keys to choose a specific conversion. When the
conversion you want is highlighted, press the ENTER (or RETURN)
Key. A window will then be displayed with the input and answer
fields inside it. Enter the figures you want converted, press
the ENTER (or RETURN) Key and the answer will be displayed.
A prompt at the bottom of the screen will direct you to press the
ENTER (or RETURN) Key to do another conversion of the same type,
or press the ESC Key to return back to the Main top screen menu.
That's all there is to using this program. Try it out, and I hope
you enjoy it, maybe it will even be helpfull to you once in a while.
